Electrical Panel Upgrades & Replacement rebuilt right.

The heart of your home, rebuilt right.

Panel Upgrades

Houston electricians for panel upgrades.

Your breaker panel is the heart of the house. When it's undersized, obsolete, or burned at the lugs, everything downstream is guessing. Chosen 1 Electric replaces failed and recalled panels across Greater Houston — 100A to 200A service upgrades, sub-panels for shops and additions, and the clean labeled finish you can see in our project gallery.

Federal Pacific, Zinsco, Pushmatic, and corroded outdoor panels are everyday finds in Pasadena and Baytown neighborhoods. We don't "make it work for now." We size the service for today's loads — including future EV chargers and standby generators — and leave every circuit labeled.

If half the house is dark and the panel is warm or buzzing, skip the form and call for emergency electrical repair.

  • 100A to 200A service upgrades
  • Federal Pacific & Zinsco replacements
  • Sub-panels for shops and additions
  • Every circuit labeled and documented

What's included

What this service actually covers.

  • Main panel replacement

Full swap of obsolete or damaged load centers, including new breakers, bonding, and a legible panel schedule. We coordinate utility disconnects when the meter and service entrance are involved.

  • 100A → 200A service upgrades

Common on older Houston homes adding HVAC, ranges, and EV charging. Includes meter base, mast or underground service, and AHJ permits.

  • Sub-panels for shops & additions

Detached shops, garages, ADUs, and room additions get a properly fed sub-panel — not a daisy-chain of extension cords. Pairs well with shop wiring and rewires.

  • Recalled & hazardous panel remediation

Federal Pacific Stab-Lok, Zinsco, and fire-damaged panels get replaced, not nursed. See the "before" shots under Diagnostics in our gallery.

When to call

Signs you need this crew.

Not sure if it's this service or something adjacent? Tell us what you're seeing — we'll point you to the right scope, whether that's this page or another under all services.

  • Breakers that feel warm, won't reset, or trip with nothing plugged in
  • A home inspector flagged Federal Pacific, Zinsco, or an undersized 60/100A service
  • You're adding a range, spa, EV charger, or HVAC and the panel is full
  • Rust, water intrusion, or burned lugs visible when you open the cover
  • You need capacity staged for a future generator
How it works

From first call to labeled finish.

  1. Inspect & load-calculate

We open the panel, check the service entrance, and run a real load calculation — not a guess. Photos of burned components go into our diagnostics notes when insurance is involved.

  2. Written price before disconnect

You get a flat written price covering the panel, breakers, permit, and utility coordination. No "we'll know more once it's open" surprises.

  3. Install, inspect, label

Utility disconnect, new gear, bonding, inspection, and a panel schedule you can actually read six years from now. Same finish standard as our residential and commercial work.

FAQ

Questions we get on panel upgrades.

How long does a panel upgrade take?

Most residential panel swaps are a one-day job once the permit and utility disconnect are scheduled. Service upgrades that involve the meter base or underground can take longer — we'll map that timeline before you sign.

Will I be without power?

Yes, during the cutover. We schedule the outage window with you and the utility so you're not guessing. Critical loads that can't wait should look at generator installation as a follow-on.

Do you replace Federal Pacific and Zinsco panels?

Absolutely — those are among the most common replacements we do in older Houston and Pasadena homes. We don't "repair" them.
